ENGLISH LESSON PLAN

Topic: In the classroom

Materials: Whiteboard, Notebooks, flashcards, scissors, crayons, glue

Methods and techniques: Total physical response, repetition drill, do as I say, not as I do ' game

SKILLS & OUTCOMES

1. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to give and respond to simple instructions.
2. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to act properly according to the command that the teacher gives them.

ACTIVITIES:

1. The teacher greets the class first. The teacher sticks instruction flashcards on the whiteboard and repeats them three times and the students repeat them after the teacher.
2. The teacher gives instructions by his/her mimes and gestures secondly. Then, the teacher specifies a gesture for every instruction she/he has taught. He/She shows the instructions by body language. The teacher and the students act according to the instructions altogether.
3. The teacher chooses a quintet by turns and gives instructions to them. If a student gives wrong answer, he/she sits down. The procedure goes on like that.
4. The teacher tells a game called 'Do as I say, not as I do '. The teacher explains the students that they are to copy the movement that they see the teacher does and ignore the directions that the teacher says. He/she stands in front of the students, gives a verbal directions but does the movement that does not match.
E.g.: "Open your book." ( While you’re closing the door)
                 "Turn left."             (While cutting the paper)
5. The teacher makes a practice about instructions (He/she helps them with his/her body language.) The teacher says and the students follow the instructions.
•    Draw left hand
•    Draw right hand
•    Colour the fingers
•    Cut the hands
•    Open your notebooks
•    Stick them on your notebooks
•    Close your notebook
