SKILLS & OUTCOMES
1. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the correct word to identify certain objects, people or animals
2. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use 'that/this' and ask the question (What is that/this?) and match written letters with the sounds produced.
Activities:
- The teacher divides the class in two groups and chooses a word. The teacher represents the word by a row of dashes. The students take turns trying to find the word by choosing one letter at a time. If they are correct and the letter exists in the word then it is added into the template. If not, another part of the hanged man is drawn on the scaffold. If the students find the complete word and “save” the hanged man,they win. If not, they lose.
- The teacher brings some authentic materials related the unit words and chooses a students from the class. The teacher fastens the student's eyes with a piece of cloth and gives a material from the table in his/her hand. The teacher says; 'What is this?'. Then, the student give his /her answer 'It is a ......... .' If the student says correct answer , he/she chooses the next student.
- The teacher wants the students open page 17 from their course books and listens Track 3 .Then, she/he wants the students circle the correct letters.
- On page 18, there is a game. The aim of the game is choosing a word in this unit and trying to tell it by miming. The teacher explains the game to the students and starts it.
- On page 19, they follow the route and say what that is. At page 20, the students look at the pictures and choose the correct words. The students circle this or that according to the pictures at page 21.
- Then, the students look at the pictures and match them with the sentences. The final part of the lesson, the students trace and colour the picture. The teacher wants the students to say the sentence about the picture. (That is a kangaroo.)
