Methods and techniques: Communication approach, question and answer, audio lingual method.
SKILLS & OUTCOMES
1. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to reinforce the words they learned one week ago.
2. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use 'that/this'. (To point people or things near us & to point people or things away from us.
Activities:
1. The teacher comes to the class with a box and greets the students. Firstly, the teacher shows some flashcards about the words the students have learned and she/he wants the students repeat them. The teacher mentions about a relevant video and plays the video. Secondly, the teacher writes a title 'What is this/that?'. Then, the teacher plays the video one more time.
2. The teacher takes the box it has authentic materials (balloon,lemon,cake,train,ambulance,taxi etc.) and shows it to students. When the teacher opens the box, she/he uses two puppets. One of the puppet takes a material from the box and asks a question ,the other puppet answers ;
Puppet 1: 'What is this?' Puppet 2: This is a train.
3. The teacher puts the materials different desks are far from teacher table and says;
• What is that? -That is a lemon.
The teacher emphasizes the difference between that and this by the help of examples.
4. The teacher wants the students open their course books and listen the picture story firstly. (page12). Then, she/he wants the students look at page 14,15,16. At page 14, the students circle the correct word. At page 15, they complete the sentences with that or this according to pictures. At page 16, the students look at the pictures and say the correct sentences.
